Trapped in a Table

Here's an illustration of what Sean and I saw when we visited a local daycare Monday.

At first, from the outside, the place looked fine. Then we went into the toddler cottage, the medicinal, harshly lit rooms with nothing on the white walls, "Hot" country music playing, and three tables with children stuck in them.

Seriously, the children were stuck IN the tables, suspended in the air, trapped, and QUIET. This was art time. The unsmiling women at the tables- kind of reminding me of black jack tables at a casino, the dealer in the middle - gave the silent, suffering children paintbrushes.

The director told us, "These tables really keep them confined and secure." Yeah, lady; no doubt. Shudder.

You crack me up. I love how you transcend suffering through creating humourous illustrations. You're a genius of humanity.

It was awful, I have to say. The woman's sales pitch was good, and I felt like it was going to be okay. Until we went in the cottage, which seemed like something constructed on the quick during wartime. I'm glad we've decided not to go with this place.
