happy easter
See the full slideshow of recent photos, including Josephine snapping beans with our neighbor, eating flowers from my rosemary tree, and looking cute in the dress my mother made for me when I was a girl, which garners all sorts of compliments...
Josephine loved finding eggs all over the house.
Sam has started smiling. Tonight he was fussy, so I started singing - and he startled in awe and wonder and delight, sheer euphoria lit up his face, and he grinned and started trying to sing back to me with gurgles and coos - it was the most amazing moment of joy between us.

We're Crafty
A couple days ago, Jo and I used old tissue boxes to make the house of the three bears - complete with a basement cave (daddy's been teaching about bears in caves) and a slide - and of course, three beds and three chairs!
Question from Jo last night:
Where Santa Claus live?
- uh... North Pole
oh. Where his lake?
- at the North Pole
Where his boat?
- on the lake
Where is mother ("mudder")?
- she's up there, too...
Later:
Me: Why are you being so loud?
Jo: Because... so... (thinks hard; can't come up with a reason)... I be quieter...

And the mom jumped over the cow
We were in the kitchen chatting and making dinner when Josephine said, “Beavers talking!”
“What?” I asked, a little confused.
So Sean explained that on their trip to the park that day, they'd stopped by the creek and saw beaver dams - and learned then that beavers talk differently than other animals.
“For instance,” he said, “How does a cow talk?”
“Moo,” I said.
A pause. Sean: “Very good, Amy – but I was asking Josephine!”
I had seriously responded as if he were really asking me – we died laughing.
I obviously have gone over the edge...
... or not. The other day, I managed to have Jo help me bathe Sam rather successfully, and then she bathed her baby dolls, over and over and over (more like full-body baptisms), and then we washed the dog together, and we all felt "all clean."
Yesterday I took them both to the park. Josephine wore a "PAID" sticker from the grocery store over one eye, like some kind of capitalist pirate... it was a gorgeous day. I am so ready for spring!
